The city of Glendale is home to one of the largest Armenian communities outside of Armenia, making it a paradise for Middle Eastern food. Just a 15-20 minute drive north of Downtown LA, you can learn about the history of neon at the Museum of Neon Art, or revel in world-class entertainment at the Alex Theatre, a cultural centerpiece that has screened films, showcased orchestras and hosted awards shows for almost a century. The Glendale Narrows Riverwalk helps make this one of LA’s quaintest suburbs, while retro-loving Glendalians can head down to the Moonlight Rollerway, an old-school roller skating rink. The theme park-like graveyard that’s Forest Lawn Cemetery, established in Glendale in 1906, is where you’ll find Michael Jackson’s mausoleum (in case you were wondering).
